My name is Marissa. I am in South Surrey and serve the White Rock area. I have been tutoring high school students for over 25 years. I have a master's degree and know how to teach math in a way that is easier to understand. In addition, I offer flexible hours so students can get the help they need when it's convenient for them.
The past year and a half have been tough for students, with all the learning disruptions, and many are struggling. One-on-one tutoring sessions can make a real difference for a better start and throughout the semester - including catching up on any curriculum gaps from last year. I work with students individually (not in a group) and tailor my style and pace of instruction to their needs. I also welcome international students and those with English as a Second Language.
I teach study skills and strategies along with learning the material, to set teens up for success in the future. That said, I am results-oriented and understand that "what gets measured gets managed" (Peter Drucker). I follow the current BC curriculum when working with students to ensure they meet learning objectives.
If you don't see a course listed, contact me about whether I offer tutoring in that subject.
I also do test prep for students who need to study without a semester commitment. This includes standardized entrance exams, such as in the trades - e.g. college electrician programs, the SATs etc.
I also have a degree in English and am fluent in French - I tutor in these subjects as well, which I will detail in another post.
My rates are reasonable and I offer private tutoring sessions in person, or via Zoom video calls online - however students are most comfortable. I am full vaccinated.

Don't delay - my schedule is filling up, though I have some time left after school, in the evenings and on weekends.
